For The Love of Books

Non-Boozy Book and Beverage Pairings

Make your summer reading time extra special by pairing your book with a non-boozy beverage! Need ideas? We’ve created some pairing suggestions for you. All you need to do is find a pool deck, a park bench, a front porch, or another favorite spot where you can read and sip away!

Code of Courage + Iced Coffee

Pairing a suspenseful thriller with a caffeinated beverage might seem like overkill (pun intended). But not only is iced coffee a bold and delicious complement to this genre, it will help keep you alert to follow the fast-paced action!

For a mocha-inspired twist, add a splash of oat milk and a drizzle of chocolate syrup to your cold brew or iced coffee.

Heirlooms + Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade

Family dramas often carry mixed emotions: sorrow with joy, sweet with sour. Many of us have heard the wise, grandmotherly saying, “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” So naturally, lemonade makes the perfect beverage pairing for this dual-timeline historical novel about grandmothers, granddaughters, and the secret that binds them together.

Make your own by mixing fresh lemon juice with ice water and adding sugar or another favorite sweetener to taste (try Stevia for a sugar-free alternative!).

Provenance + Fruit Smoothie

Independent, career-minded women are often the heroines of contemporary romance novels—you know, the ones who are too busy to think about breakfast (or the handsome stranger they’re about to meet)? But you don’t need to be too busy to make breakfast to enjoy a refreshing fruit smoothie or this swoon-worthy read!

Combine your favorite frozen fruit with almond or coconut milk in a blender and blend until smooth. Bonus points for sipping it from a glass with a fancy straw and cocktail umbrella!

In a Far-Off Land + Chocolate Milkshake

There’s something fun and old-fashioned about the classic chocolate milkshake. So when you’re reading a retro novel like this one (which takes place in 1930s Hollywood), you’ll be in the mood for this sweet and satisfying beverage.

Make a homemade version by blending vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and a splash of milk to desired consistency and thickness. Pour into an ice-cold glass and top with whipped cream and a cherry!

Is It Any Wonder + Sparkling Water

Ok, we cheated a bit for this one and borrowed directly from the book’s description: “a sparkling inspirational romance.” But sparkling water makes a refreshing beverage pairing to any book during the hot summer months!

Find your favorite flavor and crack open a cold can, or concoct your own mocktail by combining unflavored sparkling water with a splash of fruit juice. Garnish with a fresh mint leaf for extra flair!
