New Year’s Resolution: Read the Bible in a Year

“The One Year Bible guides readers through God’s Word with daily readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs.”

By Isabella Graunke

My husband recently suggested that we try reading the Bible in a year together. While there’s no right or wrong time to start a Bible reading plan, the start of the year always feels like a good time to put new goals and plans into place. If you’ve been contemplating reading the Bible in a year too, take this January as an opportunity to put your plan into action. Here’s a list of One Year Bibles to get you started.

The One Year Bible NLT

The One Year Bible, which helps you read the entire Bible in one year in as little as 15 minutes a day, has a fresh, new look. The One Year Bible guides readers through God’s Word with daily readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. This edition features the clear and understandable New Living Translation.

The One Year Pray for the Persecuted Bible

With The One Year Pray for the Persecuted Bible, you will read through the whole Bible in one year as you also pray daily for believers around the world who are suffering because of their faith. This Bible provides the structure to help you read God’s life-changing Word in the trusted New Living Translation in just 15 minutes a day. It includes daily prayer prompts to help you intercede for people who are persecuted because of their faith in Jesus Christ and full-color designed pages that feature the stories of six persecuted Christians who boldly witness for Christ amid great risk and adversity. A full-color fold-out map highlights the restricted nations and hostile areas where The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) serves persecuted Christians. This Bible also includes short summaries of each month’s prayer theme as well as photos from VOM’s work around the world.

The One Year Chronological Study Bible NLT

While there are many chronological Bibles, study Bibles, and devotional Bibles, The One Year Chronological Study Bible stands out as a Bible offering elements of each. It features a rare combination of study and devotional content presented alongside the clear and accurate New Living Translation text, which has been ordered chronologically and organized into 14 eras of history. It’s God’s story laid out as we’re used to reading a story—from beginning to end.

The One Year Children’s Bible

From the account of creation to God’s revelation to John, each story in this children’s Bible is chosen carefully to provide kids with a daily reading that will deepen their love of God’s Word. In addition, the last section of the book provides an easily accessible Bible encyclopedia. Meant to help kids better understand what they are reading, it contains points of reference about life in Bible times, featuring civilizations, food, homes, towns, weapons, religious practices, work, and daily life. There’s also an index of key people. This is a solid One Year Bible that will provide kids with a deeper understanding of God’s Word, while instilling in them a love for reading their Bible every day.
