9 Encouraging and Hopeful NLT Bible Verses About Healing
9 Encouraging and Hopeful NLT Bible Verses About Healing

Do you long for healing and wholeness?
We see in the Bible that Jesus was a healer. During his time on earth, he healed blindness, deafness, leprosy, mobility impairments, many other diseases and infirmities, and even raised people from the dead.
Living in a broken world, we need physical healing from so many illnesses, disabilities, and challenges. But even more than physical healing, we need spiritual healing. Our hearts are sick and “desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9), and if we rely on ourselves, our hearts will lead us to spiritual death. Thankfully, Jesus came to bring us forgiveness and a deeper spiritual healing “so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
All verses are cited from the New Living Translation (NLT).
Psalm 73:26
“My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.”
Psalm 147:3
“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”
Proverbs 16:24
“Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”
Proverbs 17:22
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”
Isaiah 53:4-5
“Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.”
Jeremiah 17:14
“O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed; if you save me, I will be truly saved. My praises are for you alone!”
Matthew 4:23-24
“Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all.”
Matthew 9:12-13
“When Jesus heard this, he said, ‘Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.’ Then he added, ‘Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: “I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.” For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.’”
Mark 10:51-52
“’What do you want me to do for you?’ Jesus asked. ‘My Rabbi,’ the blind man said, ‘I want to see!’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Go, for your faith has healed you.’ Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.”
