1. Abibliophobia is the fear of running out of reading material.

2. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is the first book written with a typewriter.

3. People in Iceland read more books per capita than any other country in the world.

4. Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol in six weeks.

5. We use the same portion of our brains to recognize faces as we do to recognize words when reading.

6. Of all the countries in the world, India tops the list with an average of 10.43 hours a week of reading per person.

7. According to Dr. Seuss, “The more things you read, the more things you know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

8. Print books continue to be more popular than e-books or audio books.

9. About 200,000 books are published each year in the United States alone.

10. The Bible is the most published and widely distributed book in the world. The American Bible Society’s attempt to calculate the number printed between 1816 and 1975 produced the figure of 2,458,000,000 – almost 2 and a half billion. Another survey, for the years up to 1992, estimate closer to 6 billion.
