Thriller Spotlight Interview with Don Bentley
Thriller Spotlight Interview with Don Bentley
Thriller Spotlight with Joel C. Rosenberg
Don Bentley has to be the busiest man in thriller writing today. Not only does he write his own Matt Drake thriller series, but he also has been given the reins to the Tom Clancy: Jack Ryan Jr. series. And if that weren’t enough, he has now been tapped to take over the late Vince Flynn’s iconic Mitch Rapp series.
Don, my friend, when do you sleep?
If you’ve never read his stuff, you’d better start. Don is a former Army Apache helicopter pilot and FBI special agent. Later, he spent time in the corporate world working for companies that developed technology for the Special Operations community. When he writes thrillers, he does so from decades of experience and knowledge from the inside.
Beyond all those credentials, Don Bentley is an all-around good guy. He’s a devout Christian. He loves Israel. And he’s highly respected in the writing community for his incredible skill, creativity, and expertise.
In fact, I like the guy so much, his endorsement is gracing the cover of my next Marcus Ryker novel, The Libyan Diversion, releasing May 16.
Recently, Don and I got on a Zoom call and had a great time together. We talked about how he got into writing in the first place—especially after a series of other amazing careers—what his writing process looks like, and of course his franchise character and latest release. I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did, as you watch this month’s Thriller Spotlight interview with Don Bentley.
