Thankfulness in Every Season: Readers Share What Keeps Them Grateful

In a world filled with distractions and challenges, finding moments to pause and reflect on what we’re thankful for can transform our outlook. Gratitude is more than just a feeling—it’s a practice that many find anchored in faith and Scripture.

We asked our Reader Rewards Members what they are thankful for and how they practice a life of gratitude. The responses poured in, filled with heartfelt reflections, favorite verses, and faith-based habits that remind us all of why Paul tells us to “rejoice always.” In this article, we’re sharing a selection of these moving responses and insights to encourage your practice of gratitude. What are you thankful for?

Salvation, sanity, sunshine, my family, laughter, puzzles, potatoes, Bible journaling supplies, music, flowers, birds, sunsets, moonlight, and that God loves me even when I don’t deserve it. – Emily M.

I know it will sound cliche, but I’m thankful God never leaves me. I’m retired and single and I have no one to do things with. But I can always count on God to not reject or ignore me. – Fran

I practice gratitude by using a gratitude journal. – Cate H.

Psalms, prayer – especially remember to thank Him for the moment I see His answer – whether it’s yes, no or wait, spending time with grateful positive Christians – Thereasa W.

I always end the day in bed, thinking through the day and thanking the Lord for different things that happened that day. Even when there is an urgent need that I want to pray for, I force myself to start with His provisions first. This helps in then having the right perspective as I pray for other things, as I am reminded that He is faithful! – Charlene
