The Bible shares deep and meaningful ideas—like love, forgiveness, and sin—that can sometimes feel hard to explain. To help make these concepts clearer, the Bible uses stories and comparisons from everyday life. For example, it talks about things like gardening, getting sick, being part of a family, or dealing with debt. These relatable examples help us connect with and understand spiritual truths in a way that feels personal and easy to follow.
This month’s eChart, “Explaining the Metaphors of the Gospel,” is taken from Rose Publishing’s pamphlet, 24 Ways to Explain the Gospel. It features colorful charts that highlight Jesus’ promises—like friendship, safety, freedom, security, forgiveness, and peace. Each chart is divided into four simple sections:
- Metaphor: A Bible idea explained through a familiar example.
- Positive: The hope or good news in the message.
- Negative: The challenges or problems the message addresses.
- Illustrations: Pictures or bullet points that help explain the meaning.
At its heart, the Gospel is the good news of Jesus—that he came to save us. To better understand and share this message, it helps to explore the stories and examples the Bible uses to explain it. These tools make it easier to connect with what Jesus did for us and share it with others.
