Someone taught me a long time ago to search out a word in the Bible because it may not have the same meaning today as it had back then. Like the word hate in the Bible could have several meanings , two of the meanings for the word hate could be one the way we use it today or two it could mean like less than and I know there could me more meanings for the word hate , could you give me an example of the way they separated them to let you know which one was intended in a couple different situations
I met with Ken Taylor during the translation phase of the NLT. He described the the principles that were being used for the NLT. He showed us his own workbook of passages and notes showing the processes that were being used. I was blessed and impressed by his commitment to accuracy and translating the original language to capture in English as much as possible of the original meaning and the revelation of the Word of God. The NLT attempts to convey the eternal word, will and ways of the Lord as God inspired the original writers of the scriptures. As a result we have encouraged the use of the NLT in our ministry to English speakers and to those who desire to study scripture in English, as their second language. The scriptures themselves are the primary instrument that God uses to instruct and inspire all believers around the world.
