We can never plan for the unexpected turns of this life that sometimes lead to great personal suffering. Sometimes that suffering can overshadow everything and threaten to pull us under. Nancy Guthrie knows what it is to be plunged into life’s abyss. Framing her own story of staggering loss and soaring hope with the biblical story of Job, she takes you by the hand and guides you on a pathway through pain—straight to the heart of God. Holding On to Hope offers an uplifting perspective, not only for those experiencing monumental loss, but for anyone going through difficulty and failure. (Includes an 8-week study on the book of Job for readers who want to dig deeper into what the Bible says about dealing with suffering and grief.)">Skip to Main Content
This book is so helpful for anyone struggling through a hard time in life. The chapters chronicle Job's struggle and Guthrie's struggle with losing two children to a genetic disorder. This was given to me after my daughter died from a genetic problem, and it really helped me through the difficult journey of grief. I would highly recommend it to anyone dealing with a painful situation.
I have been SO ABUNDANTLY BLESSED by this simple little book. Short, easy chapters that parallel the Guthrie's journey with the life of Job. I've reread my copy at least 8 times since God led me to the book in 2002. Each time for a different journey in my life, God brings out encouragement and strength from Nancy's book to life me up and give me hope. I've given so many copies of this book away over the years as a "greeting card" of encouragement for people in their own struggles. So thankful for this beautifully simple and encouraging word.
