Damascus Countdown is fantastic! Rosenberg always keeps me riveted.” —Rush Limbaugh, radio host

All eyes are on the Middle East. Israel has successfully launched a first strike on Iran, taking out all of their nuclear sites and six of their nuclear warheads—and causing The Twelfth Imam to order a full-scale retaliation. U.S. President William Jackson threatens to support a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning the Jewish State for unprovoked and unwarranted acts of aggression.

Meanwhile, CIA operative David Shirazi has infiltrated the Iranian regime and intercepted information indicating that two Iranian nuclear warheads survived the attack and have been moved to a secure and undisclosed location. In danger not only from the ongoing missile strikes on Iran but also from the increasingly hostile and suspicious governments of multiple countries, David and his team are in a race against time to find the remaining nuclear warheads before disaster strikes.

Very Exciting Thriller. Would Recommend.

“Our new mission – and this comes straight from the top – is to find both those warheads and destroy them before they leave Iran,” David explains in Joel C. Rosenberg’s Damascus Countdown. “The good news: we’re authorized to use any force necessary to accomplish our mission. The bad news: we have no leads, no sources, and very little time.” At four hundred and seventy pages, this hardbound novel is the next international political thriller of bestselling author Rosenberg that could well be a true scenario in our everyday lives. With no profanity but situations of war-time killing, multinational intrigue, Biblical references and prophecies, it is geared to both adult Christian and Jewish readers who have an interest and loyalty to the State of Israel. A cast of American, Iranian, Israeli, Pakistani and Syrian characters at the beginning of the book is a helpful supportive reference tool. This reader wishes all pronouns about God were capitalized for reverence. In this fast moving tome, David Shirazi is a top non-official cover agent for the CIA who has infiltrated the Iranian regime when Israel initiates a preemptive strike on Qom, Iran, destroying six of their eight nuclear warheads. He and his small technical team are asked to seek and destroy the two missing bombs. Mahdi, the Twelfth Imam, is ready to take over the Middle East region with the support of Iran, Pakistan and Syria as head of the Caliphate, whose main goal is to annihilate the Zionists by detonating the two genocidal missiles in Israel from Damascus, Syria. When Iran bombs a nuclear plant in Dimona in retaliation, Israel is put to the test and blamed for killing several strategically placed Iranian children, instead of killing the Mahdi. With the help of a mole among the “Twelvers,” the Mossad and the American team do all they can to find and try to disarm the weapons before their catastrophic detonation. Throughout the story, not only does David accept the One True God, but unusual players stand up for their beliefs in political and religious arenas through the use of Biblical prophecy that has not come to pass yet today. Some of the author’s prior books’ characters factor into the final outcome of the story. This is a great read for anyone interested not only in the prophetical future of Israel but for Iran and Syria as well. Rosenberg did another credible, fascinating page-turner that makes one want to keep his or her eyes wide open on current day Middle East events, and see if they line up to eschatological Old Testament passages.

Suspenseful and riveting. Edge-of-your-seat intense. One certain to fight to hang in there with because it was well worth it. Reads like the makings of a really good television drama show. Only wish I read faster. Although, in the last 20 some last of the chapters, I did read in a blur, wanting to hurry and see the events unfold as quickly as possible. Exciting and easy to follow and understand. Engaging. Eerily frightening. Surprisingly heartfelt, compassionate, emphatic, and sincere but not too emotional. Very detailed and specific, but not overly done. Believable, realistic and likely. Encourages the heart to open up about God's overall possibilities for us. A book I am grateful to have jumped into!

I love this author, and want this book and all of his books in my personal library to hand down to others

I do not recommend this book. There were too many characters that cluttered up the pages & too few back-stories that were clearly told. This book encourages fear of Muslims, instead of encouraging Christians to pray for

I could not put this book down. Took me a couple of days after work hours to finish this, but I am a big fan of Joel Rosenberg's work. This series of books has everything I love in a book: action, adventure, faith, love, and a plot that keeps you guessing the entire way. Fantastic read! Can't wait for the next book of his.

Damascus Countdown was the first of Joel Rosenberg’s books I have read. I was impressed with the relevance of his story as he wrote of end time events involving Israel, Iran, Syria, the USA, CIA, and top scientists as well as Islamic religious leaders. This is an intriguing and suspenseful novel as the threat of nuclear war is being posed against Israel. A key character, David Shirazi, works tirelessly with his team to locate missing nuclear warheads to hopefully avoid their devastating use. He seeks to thwart the plans of the enemy and gain information by infiltrating their inner circles as one of them. He has times of failure when he and his team are getting nowhere; his contacts in the inner circle fail to respond; all seems futile. The agencies of espionage in Israel and the USA work continuously to gather information to help and protect their agents. The blind faith of those who look for Islam’s messiah in the Mahdi is portrayed as they stop at nothing to succeed. The coldhearted executions that take place when someone is suspected of being a traitor is quite unsettling. Then the counter to this is the great faith in the true Messiah, Jesus Christ. Many of the characters are faithful followers of Him. There are many testimonies to Him and His saving grace; witness made to those who need Him who are facing certain death. The personal side of David’s life and others is also portrayed as Rosenberg shares the emotional ties to family and friends; and one special lady in particular. Timing is everything for all the events and the story holds your attention aptly. Also it unfolds with great attention to detail as the attacks/battles of the war are described. A great read! Amazing how it ties in with our current history as Israel is in the center of our news today. A very probable story, indeed.
