With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, it’s no wonder so many parents and teachers are asking questions about how to bring up boys. Why are so many boys in crisis? What qualities should we be trying to instill in young males? Our culture has vilified masculinity and, as a result, an entire generation of boys is growing up without a clear idea of what it means to be a man. In the runaway bestseller Bringing Up Boys, Dr. Dobson draws from his experience as a child psychologist and family counselor, as well as extensive research, to offer advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles.">Skip to Main Content
The best part of Dr. Dobson's book Bringing Up Boys is that it is full of wisdom that is severely absent in today's society. I really appreciate being able to glean it from him. I especially appreciated how he pointed out different ways that society has had a very strong negative influence on parenting, our view of men, and more. As a Christian this is such a helpful book for a parent of one or more boys. The only drawback that I found to this book was that there was substantial amounts of the book that are not applicable to me as I only have one boy and he is not even two years old yet. While reading the book I thought that it would be the most relevant to parents of boys in elementary school - before they start to hit puberty. However, I still think this is an excellent book and is one that I will likely reread and reference throughout my son's childhood.
This is A Must Have book. Even if a man doesn't have boys this books helps understand himself, the reasons and roots why men do what the do. I like this book so much I am going to keep it and reread it again and again. This is not something you borrow from library. You better buy this book as this is a good investment. It helps raise children.
