Despite what the world leads us to believe, true beauty has nothing to do with outward appearances. The more we focus on what we look like on the outside, the more insecure we become.

Fortunately, God doesn’t measure our worth by how we look. We have value simply because we are His children. The more we focus on getting our hearts right with the Lord and honoring Him, the more secure and confident we will become—and the more we will exude true beauty.

In 30 Days to a More Beautiful You, former Victoria’s Secret Runway Angel Kylie Bisutti gives a complete inner-beauty makeover with succinct devotional readings designed to transform your heart, body, mind, and soul and put you on the path to becoming a happier, healthier, more beautiful you.

The perfect gift for every young woman, this devotional will forever change the way you define the word beautiful.

“The more we focus on getting our hearts right with the Lord and honoring Him, the more secure and confident we will become – and the more we will exude beauty,” Kylie Bisutti writes in the introduction of her book, "30 Days to a More Beautiful You." At sixty-five pages, this pocket-sized paperback targets young girls, mostly mature teenagers or young women. Written by a former Victoria’s Secret runway model, the topic of being a sexy lingerie model may not be appropriate for naïve readers. Meant to be a thirty-day devotional on finding God’s beauty inside instead of outside one’s self, each day’s two-page theme starts with a title and written out Bible verse. The beginning section usually explains beauty, emotions, attitudes, and personality traits from mankind and God’s perspective. With almost all days mentioning the author’s personal experiences as a runway model that moved to New York at age sixteen years old to seek love and attention through modeling, she gives glory to the Almighty. Having her weight constantly challenged, modeling skimpy clothing, and dealing with the industry’s competition, she gave up all of it to have a better relationship with Christ. The final paragraph for each day refocuses on a relationship with God that brings out the inner-beauty of a girl’s heart, soul, mind, and body. Two questions are given for the reader to ponder and a true beauty tip completes the day’s devotional. Biscutti reminds young females that they are worthwhile to God, they should please only Him, He forgives sins, and the best reward comes from loving Him. One example is Day Nineteen titled “Putting God First,” with Romans 8:5-6 as the reference verse. The article explains how idolatry can be anything that rules our lives. Noting the writer’s modeling career being her idol, when she turned to God, her desire for it subsided. We can have more peace and purpose when we put God first. Bisutti asks readers what things have become idols and what if they turn them to God. Her true beauty tip is to make Jesus your heart’s true treasure. Although most young women do not participate in the modeling world, this small token book may help guide someone who is insecure of their looks, seeking physical attraction of others, or unfocused in their relationship to God. Thanks to Tyndale House Publishers for furnishing this book in exchange of a review based on the reader’s honest opinion.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher. This is a great devotional for young girls and older who will find through reading this that their focus shouldn't always be about external appearances. In a time where external appearances and peer acceptance is so crucial to a young person's self-image and self-worth, perhaps a devotional that shows that God loves us as we are, is necessary to help strengthen their inner strength. It's short, with each day being only 2 pages. Each starts with a passage from the Bible, a short personal story from the author about the relevance to her own life as a runway model for Victoria's Secret, then wraps up with what is important in that day's devotion. The part I enjoyed the most was the question at the end of each day that helped you to reflect deeper in the day's devotion, and see how it is relevant in your own life. A quote that I most enjoyed is, "When we dress provocatively, we're devaluing ourselves because we're encouraging others to ignore everything about us except our external appearance."

30 Days to a More Beautiful You is a devotional written for girls by former Victoria's Secret runway model Kylie Bisutti. Each day starts with a verse, has a short devotional thought, has a couple of introspective questions, and ends with a true beauty tip. She is very open about her life, including her mistakes. The devotional was a little vague at times, but I only knew that from reading her other book "I'm No Angel." I would recommend this book to teenaged girls, but it's a little too mature for younger girls (in my opinion). If you had a daughter, you might want to read this devotional with her and discuss it, because, once more, it might help. Overall a good devotional.
