Book Signing Schedule for Uncommon Marriage Announced

New York Times bestselling authors Tony and Lauren Dungy will sign newest book in multiple states; title releases February 4

“[The Dungys] offer their thoughts in personal, conversational style with the hope that readers can recognize some part of their own marriage and be able to find guidance, hope, and encouragement. The book reads more like an enjoyable chat with longtime friends than the helpful marriage guidebook that it is.”

In Uncommon Marriage, Dungy, the first African American head coach in NFL history to guide his team to a Super Bowl title, joins his wife, Lauren, also a New York Times bestselling author of children’s books coauthored with her husband, to impart principles they have learned during their 31-plus years of marriage. The Dungys draw on their own experiences to offer hope, encouragement, and practical advice to those who would like their marriages to be “better” but aren’t sure what to do differently.
Uncommon Marriage features personal stories from a couple who have not just made marriage work, but, according to the Dungys, also have done so joyfully and with a sense of purpose and partnership. Through their stories, the Dungys relate real-life lessons they’ve learned about developing and maintaining a strong, fulfilling, faith-filled marriage.
Tony Dungy is the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of Quiet Strength, Uncommon, and The Mentor Leader. He led the Indianapolis Colts to Super Bowl victory on February 4, 2007, the first such win for an African American head coach. Dungy established another NFL first by becoming the first head coach to lead his teams to the playoffs for ten consecutive years. Dungy joined the Colts in 2002 after serving as the most successful head coach in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history. He has also held multiple assistant coaching positions. Dungy has been involved in a wide variety of charitable organizations, including All Pro Dad. He retired from coaching in 2009 and now serves as a studio analyst for NBC’s Football Night in America. He and his wife, Lauren, have been married for 31 years and are the parents of nine children.
Lauren Dungy is an early childhood educational specialist, bestselling author, and frequently sought-after speaker. She is also a devoted wife and mother. A graduate of Duquesne University with a degree in elementary education, she taught school in her hometown of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and volunteers as a reading specialist in the Title I schools in Tampa. The vice president of the Dungy Family Foundation, which is committed to strengthening families and helping individuals acquire the life skills needed for success, Lauren has a great passion and love for children. She works closely with several adoption agencies and women’s shelters in the Tampa area. She is also heavily involved in her church. Lauren and her husband, Tony, have been married for 31 years. They are the parents of nine children.
Nathan Whitaker is the coauthor of the No. 1 New York Times bestseller Quiet Strength, and the founder of Whitaker Partners, LLC, a firm specializing in the representation of coaches and front office personnel. He has also coauthored the New York Times bestsellers Uncommon, Mentor Leader, You Can Do It!, You Can Be a Friend, and Through My Eyes (with Tim Tebow).  A two-sport athlete in baseball and football at Duke University, he graduated cum laude from the Harvard Law School. He has also worked in the front offices of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Whitaker currently lives in Florida with his wife and two daughters.
