Shawn Wicks
Shawn
Wicks is a pastor, author, and ministry leader based in Southern California
with a heart for teaching, shepherding, and equipping those who want to grow in
their faith. In addition to his pastoral work, he serves as vice president of
the Southern California Bible Conference, which owns and operates Verdugo Pines
Bible Camp. In this role, Shawn oversees a wide range of ministry programs,
including youth and family camps, college and career retreats, and leadership
events. He has also served on the board of Latino Evangelistic Ministries
(LEM), where he trained young adults in cross-cultural evangelism.
Shawn earned his master of divinity from Talbot School of Theology in 2005,
where he was honored as senior preacher. Since then, he has been a regular
speaker at churches, camps, and conferences, ministering to people of all ages
and backgrounds. Over the past twenty years, Shawn has developed a deep passion
for helping individuals wrestling with doubts and confusion about the Bible.
This passion led him to coauthor Before You Go: Uncovering Hidden Factors in
Faith Loss (2022) with John Marriott. The book sheds light on the
often-overlooked emotional and psychological roots of faith deconstruction,
offering a compassionate and thoughtful approach beyond traditional
apologetics.
Shawn enjoys playing board games, going camping, and walking at the beach. He
lives in Orange County with his wife, Dawnita, and their four children.
