Kim Newlen

Kim Newlen winsomely lives her eternal-perspective priorities—God, His Word, and people—in a simple, sweet, and salty way, believing that fun and faithfulness do not have to be separate. Kim is founder and president of Sweet Monday: Women's Socials on a Shoestring . . . Tied to a Generous God, an international nonprofit women's creative evangelism ministry. With a mission of reaching out to women one sweet invitation at a time for Christ, Kim encourages women to daily hear God's voice above all others, through His Word, and energizes them to share Christ in a sweet and simple way. In the midst of marriage and motherhood, after a stint as a school teacher and time spent on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU), no one was more surprised than Kim at how God multiplied five cupcakes, two pieces of candy, and a simple invitation to her home the first Monday of the month, no shoestrings attached! Women laugh, learn from other women, and leave with an introduction to Jesus Christ.

Kim has trained, equipped, and encouraged many "Home Sweet Monday Home" missionaries through Billy Graham School of Evangelism global conferences, Salvation Army officer trainings, and organizations like CRU, MOPS, and local churches in twenty states. She has been featured in media such as Today's Christian Woman, Just Between Us, Family Circle, Lead Like Jesus,Moody Radio's Midday Connection, The 700 Club, theRichmond Times-Dispatch, and theAsheville Citizen-Times. As a breast cancer survivor, Kim has also been a cheerleader for women who are battling the disease. She developed and patented a postsurgical camisole called Look Better Than You Feel and established a program for gifting the camisoles to patients undergoing treatment.

While Kim wears many different pink hats, the most recognizable is her "Miss Tea Party" hat. With Sweet Monday, she set a Guinness World Record in 2005 by gathering 7,250 people together for the World's Largest Tea Party at the University of Richmond's Robins Center.

Kim hangs her pink hat in Richmond, Virginia, sharing life with her husband, Mark, a former state director for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a basketball player at the University of Virginia, and her college daughter, Kali.
