The idea for this story came one day when Molly (now 18 years old) and I were sitting outside of Panera and remembering those days of dress up. We laughed and reminisced about how long this phase of life lasted for her – she played with those dress up clothes until she couldn’t squeeze herself in them anymore.

As a mom, I loved encouraging creativity and imagination and would happily supply the dress up bin with all sorts of idea starters. But the thing I love about the My Princesses stories is that while the stories are rooted in imaginative play, the idea of being a Princess is one of the foundational truths of our faith.

The Bible tells us that we are children of God, who is the one true King. That makes us all royalty. I love how these cute little princess stories do not focus on being pretty and ruling a kingdom, but focus on teaching little girls how important it is to root their identity in God and to focus on developing traits that make them more like him.

Now that my daughter is grown and heading off to college, my hope is that she will always remember that she is the daughter of the King. And no matter what the world tells her to look like or act like, she can always look to her father to find her identity.

My hope is that hundreds of other little girls read these stories are inspired to live like God’s Princesses – always knowing they are loved and chosen by the King.
