First Lady of Ghana Visits Tyndale House
Carol Stream, IL — Tyndale House Publishers was honored this week with a state visit from Her Excellency Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, the wife of the President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills.
Her Excellency Mrs. Mills asked that Tyndale House be included on her itinerary because she and her husband are familiar with Tyndale products, including the Life Application Study Bible and the NLT Study Bible , and have enthusiastically facilitated the distribution and use of Tyndale books and Bibles in the Republic of Ghana.
Mrs. Mills visited Tyndale House on Monday, July 29. Following an informal reception with Tyndale executives, she addressed Tyndale employees in an assembly, then ended the morning with a tour of Tyndale and lunch in the boardroom with invited guests.
Before introducing Mrs. Mills to the assembly, Jeff Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, reminded the audience that God’s Word instructs us to pray for the leaders that God puts in authority. He then offered a prayer for President and Mrs. Mills. Mrs. Mills presented him with a gift for Tyndale House, a beautifully carved wooden globe crafted in the Republic of Ghana.
At the conclusion of Mrs. Mills’ message, James Elwell, Director of International Publishing, presented her with a gift from Tyndale House. Tyndale Art Director and internationally acclaimed artist Timothy Botts created an original calligraphic rendering of the “for such a time as this” passage from the book of Esther as Tyndale’s gift for Mrs. Mills.
Jeff Johnson reflected on Mrs. Mills’ visit to Tyndale House as a “privilege,” and in observing she has a “servant’s heart,” he said, “May it be that more leaders around the world would have this kind of servant’s heart versus being caught up in how they can benefit from their position and power.”
