I believe another aspect of this word ‘flesh’ speaks of the Mind of the Flesh vs Mind of the Spirit as Paul cryptically discusses in Romans 7 and 8. It is the modus operandi we choose to live from. Our lives produce the corresponding fruit. When we learn to discern (or epiginosko) the true body of Christ, we eat from the Tree of Life which causes our lives to effortlessly produce good fruit. A good tree can not produce bad fruit. Only God is good and our spirits have been quickened together with Jesus Christ… we are now one with His spirit and led by the Holy Spirit to live and reign in the Kingdom of God here on earth. As we walk in the spirit we will not be subject to the dictates of the flesh. So we are back in the garden with the Two Trees but God still says “Do not eat from the Tree of Knowledge or else…” Choose Life

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and indepth understanding of the word flesh as is used in different ways some is clear that we are made of flesh and blood meaning our outer covering and when Jesus was talking about his flesh being eaten he was talking about his body giving it up on the cross dying for us
Jeremiah spoke about trusting in God not on the flesh not trusting self as a person or putting our trust on mankind this is very interesting thank you for sharing once more

This was a great study and will be most helpful in my future understanding of God’s Word. Those that criticized, unfortunately appear to be part of the generation that prefers “Sound Bites Only” (AT BEST) and/or (AT WORST) view all evidentiary material as “non-factual subjective only proofs.” By the way, I have a B.A. in Bible and Theology from M.B.I. “The literal meaning of sarx is simply ‘flesh,’ as in the outer layer of the human body.”

This is one definition of “flesh,” and the one that has traditionally come to mind when I heard it. But I’ve lately come to realize that “flesh” seldom means “skin,” as you would have it here. The first definition offered at Dictionary.com is “the soft substance of a human or other animal body, consisting of muscle and fat.”

Where possible, I’ve quit using the term “flesh” when I mean “skin.” It probably doesn’t make a lot of difference in the grand scheme of things, but it’s some small contribution.

Wow, that was waaaaay too longwinded. Sorry.
