Is the app free?
Yes, the app is free to download, and it comes loaded with lots of great study, devotional, and visual content. The app is available for both iOS (Apple) and Android devices.
I’m having trouble scanning the page number in my Filament Bible. What should I do?
If you’re aligning the crosses and it’s still not working, it may be that the camera is too far or too close to the page. Try moving the camera so that the cross on screen is the same size as the cross on the page.
If that doesn’t work, it may be that the light in the room is too low for your camera to focus. If you’re using a phone, try turning on the flash by tapping the sun icon button in the lower corner of the scanning screen.
You can also navigate by tapping the page number on the main screen and typing in the page number you want to go to, or you can tap on the Bible book and chapter range to navigate to a specific chapter. [Hint: this is also a quick way to find out what page to turn to in your Filament Bible if you are having trouble locating it].
Does the app work with other Bibles or other translations?
The app is specifically designed to work with the Filament Bible (or Filament: Gospel of John), which is available exclusively in the New Living Translation. We hope to be able to add additional Bibles and translations in the future.
Can I download the Filament app on multiple devices to use with my Bible?
Of course you can! The app is available now in the App Store and on Google Play. There is no limit to the number of devices that you can connect to your Bible. There is no reason that multiple people in your family (or friends) can’t all have the app on their devices in order to share the experience of Filament with others.
I have an older phone or tablet, what devices will the Filament app work with?
The Filament app works best with the newest devices, but our testing shows that it will work with any device that is running iOS 11 or above or Android 4.1 and above.
Why can I not access videos and other interactive content?
The See window requires that you have an active connection to the Internet in order for it to work properly. Make sure that your device has an active connection, either by being connected to wifi or through a cellular network.
I can access videos and other interactive content, but why are they loading slowly?
The loading speed of the visual content in Filament will depend on the speed of your internet connection. Videos, maps, and illustrations will work best on a faster connection.
Why do I see the same article in multiple places in the Bible?
This is one great benefit of the print+digital experience that Filament offers. Most people and themes show up many times throughout the Bible, but in a traditional print Bible it doesn’t make sense to keep printing the same content over and over again (you’d end up with a Bible the size of your car!). In Filament, we can show you a person profile, theme article, map, or illustration everywhere it is relevant in order to give you ready access to deeper understanding on every page.
