This is one of the most well-developed, organized, and helpful bibles I've ever seen. Ordering the weekly devotions on the Lectionary is extremely helpful for those who follow the rhythm of the Church calendar. The art used for meditation and provoking thought is spot on. The details of giving page numbers alongside scripture passages, and putting devotional page numbers alongside the scriptures is an excellent idea. The use and appreciation of the breadth of Christian historical theologians in the devotionals cannot be praised enough. These thoughts, alongside contemporary authors and artistry is an beautiful example of the communion of the saints speaking and praying together. My wife and I are thoroughly enjoying it and we are extremely happy that Tyndale has published such a well-designed, helpful, bible.
The first thing that catches your eye with this bible is the cover – wow! It’s really beautiful. And it feels nice. They have come a long way with bible covers. The setup for this bible is a little different. All of the devotional material, historical content and artwork are at the beginning of the book. And the content is different than any other study bible I have, too. It focuses on church history throughout the ages. Pair all that with the text of the NLT and you have a winner. My biggest problem with it is that it feels a little too compact. It is very thick. I think they could have used a larger page and stretched it out a little more. The type is also very small. Not small enough to be a problem ”¦ just very small. If you have trouble reading small text – this one probably is not for you. If you have good eyes and want to learn about the church calendar, put this beautiful bible on your list!
