Reflection #6

I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your law is written on my heart.
Psalm 40:8

I have been struggling to do what I know God wants me to do. I need to be writing, but I find it very easy to be preoccupied with good, necessary activities to avoid doing what I know I should be doing. I’ve found myself saying, “I’ve successfully filled my day with people, errands, phone calls, and letters; I’ve just had no time to write!”

The problem with putting off what I know to be God’s will is that I have a small cloud hanging over me and it says with me even though I’m involved in beneficial concerns. The last few days have been hard!

Today I was convicted and blessed by this thought by Oswald Chambers:

Doing God’s will is never hard. The only thins that is hard is not doing His Will.

Thank you, Lord for being ever faithful to speak to our hearts. May we take joy in doing your will, for it is because Your law is in our hearts that we cannot be content unless we are accomplishing your good and acceptable and perfect will for us.

Love in Christ,

Cynthia Heald
