Reflection #4

But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, in order that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.
Acts 20:24

For the past few weeks, my life has not been what I had planned. In fact, I have struggled with the changes and the adjustments that were required of me. I had my life ordered to my satisfaction and I have been a little bent out of shape because my agenda has been totally set aside.

The verse in Acts is special to me and God is always faithful to remind me that my life is not supposed to be dear to me. It’s His life, His plans and His way. My part is to trust, persevere, and keep testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.

I was challenged by one of Jonathan Edward’s “resolves”,

Never, henceforward, till I die, to act as if I were any way my own, but entirely and altogether God’s.

Love in Christ,

Cynthia Heald
