**UPDATE** The winner of our What’s in the Bible? Contest is…Rebecca Marchbanks! Commenter #1 was randomly chosen from Random.org. Rebecca was our first commenter (the comments start with the first from the bottom up…and yes, we know the date is wrong. Our web team needs to fix that).

Congratulations, Rebecca! You win your choice of one of the current WITB DVDs!

This is question 7 of 12 in the What’s in the Bible? 12 Questions of Christmas Blog Tour. Be sure to visit www.whatsinthebible.com tomorrow to find the location of the next video in the series.

Why does Santa ring a bell and collect money sometimes?

What’s in the Bible? is the new 13-DVD series from VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer designed to walk kids and families through the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. DVDs 1-4 (Genesis – Ruth) are available now.

As the publisher of What’s In the Bible, we would like to offer a special giveaway of the DVDs. Just comment on this post by answering this question: What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?

You can also get extra entries by tweeting about the giveaway and mentioning @TyndaleHouse and @WhatsintheBible in your tweet. Post another comment linking to your tweet. Let us know if you post about the giveaway on Facebook as well by leaving another comment. You can earn up to three entries for this giveaway.

We’ll use Random.org to choose the winner on Friday, December 10 at 10 AM CT. The winner will get his or her choice of a current What’s in the Bible DVD. So if you were looking to get the latest DVD, you have a chance to win it here!

Check out www.whatsinthebible.com to learn more about this new series.

    Merry Christmas!

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is the family meal – with ALL the family gathered, some we may not have seen since last Christmas!

My favorite CHRIST-mas tradition was finding a tree in the woods with my Dad, cutting it down, bringing it home and decorating it for my birthday and waiting until CHRIST-mas day to place the Baby Jesus in the creche. I think this year will be another great tradition as it is my first CHRIST-mas leading Junior Church and we are having a wonderful time learning about CHRIST-mas.

      I posted this on facebook.

My favorite Christmas Tradition is really simple. I grew up in a home all about Santa Claus and gifts. So for me it is the time to share Jesus with my 4 little ones. My husband and I pray with them before we open gifts and I LOVE to hear the things they are grateful for and the things that they want to pray for. Sweet kids!!

    • Krista Bonestroo

Our favorite Christmas tradition is our “Birthday Party for Jesus” that we do on Christmas Eve.

    • Sarah

Each of us tell the Christmas story in our own words. Then we read it outloud

My new favorite tradition is reading a different picture book about Christmas with my children each day of Advent. This year we wrapped them. The kids are always excited to see what the book is for the day (and unwrap it; they love opening presents).

    • Christine

Our favorite Christmas tradition is reading/re-enacting the Christmas story on Christmas morning before the kids open their presents. A close second is the marathon baking weekend we have so we can share treats with our friends.

Oops…when I posted my first comment, I didn’t answer the question! (You can delete that first one).
Our favorite Christmas tradition is laying out an empty “manger” in front of our tree to wait for baby Jesus. We have a special doll that we place in the manger for the kids to find on Christmas morning. They each take turns holding “baby Jesus” while we read the story of Christ’s birth.

We are loving the What’s In the Bible series and we are loving the 12 Questions of Christmas as well. :) Thank you for offering these!

    • Stephanie

My favorite Christmas tradition is baking a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas Eve. I’ve done it since I was a child, and we’ve continued the tradition with our son.

    • Hannah

Though we have many Christmas traditions, some of my favorites are ringing bells for the Salvation Army at our local stores, and going Christmas Caroling to nursing homes and around the neighborhood.

    • Dan

My favorite Christmas season tradition is actually tied into this series by Clive and Ian…being Dutch, we celebrate St. Nick’s Day…, but instead of giving our children what I came to see as the traditional gift of fruit and small gifts, we give them an ornament . . . one day, when they have their own home, they’ll already have a collection of ornaments for their tree . . . ornaments with meaning behind them. Christmas itself, is listening to my father read the Christmas story prior to opening of the gifts.

    • Cindy Ines

I love how Salvation Army tries to bring flavor to the streets of NY during Christmas.

My favorite Christmas tradition (or at least one of many) is our custom of letting the youngest child in the home “top” the Christmas tree with the angel when all the other decorating is complete.

My favorite Christmas tradition is Christmas Eve breakfast with my family & Christmas morning at my in-laws. It’s wonderful to just be together!

    • http://EmpoweringChristianWomen.com Karla Meachem

My favorite Christmas tradition is taking time to ‘slow down’ ~ more time for reflection & appreciation for all that I have been given.

    • Mark

My favorite tradition, aside from the music (which is the best!), is lighting candles on the Advent wreath and watching and waiting for the birth of Jesus.

    • Virginia Graves

My favorite Christmas tradition is the lighting of the advent wreath.

    • Amanda

      I just shared on facebook!

    • Amanda

My favorite tradition is our special weekly advent dinner. We light the candles on our advent wreath and eat dinner by the candlelight.

    • marina

We love singing happy birthday to Jesus in the morning, to remind our little ones the reason we celebrate Christmas. Gets them all excited and puts things into perspective even for us older folks

    • http://cefonline.com Beth Lamb

Our favorite family tradition is buying gifts for prisoners’ children in our city. We have been doing this for the past 10 years, and its part of our church’s outreach ministry.

    • http://www.jacquelinesjabberings.blogspot.com Jacqueline

shared on facebook too! I love Clive and Ian’s questions and answers!

Hmmmm… I love the things we do together as a family – read the Christmas story before opening presents, the Christmas poppers and silly hats from them that we wear during Christmas dinner, driving around and looking at the Christmas lights…

    • Angela Lutz

Post on FB about the giveaway.

We love sing Christmas songs. Sometimes we break them out in the middle of the summer.

One of my favorite traditions would be singing carols with my mom’s extended family. Hearing all the harmonies is just beautiful!

My favorite Christmas tradition is our family advent reading. The kids know that before bed Dad will read about His coming! They look forward to it every year!
